You are absolutely correct. You'll have to take your sliding pieces and use them. The moulding is in left and right pieces. Get someone to help you and you can avoid scratching your paint.

My top was brand new and installed when I bought the car in Raleigh last June. BTW there is a fine MB shop there, called the West German Garage. Nice fellow named Henry.
