Any investment earnings that don't come from dividends (whether rent payments for property, actual dividends on stocks, or profits from a small business) are basically a gift from destiny, and can be lost just as easily. Enjoy them, but don't count on them
Flipping or day-trading can be profitable, but it's no way to live.
