The turbo charged, intercooled 98 and 99 E300 are healthy performers in stock condition in my opinion. I've got a customer with one that is at around 280k miles and it is a solid performer that has just required routine maintenance stuff over the years. There are more electronics involved but that goes with any of them after about 95.
