We have an 06 Jetta TDI and per the manual it gets 10K changes. Each time an oil sample is pulled and sent to the lab for analysis to ensure the oil & engine are OK.
As for the Merc, at 3K I never fear the oils useful life has been exceeded so no lab reports. However I am curious how / why changing synthetic at 3K would do more harm.
