I have a 300SDL with the 6 cylinder 603 engine and a 300D 2.5 Turbo with the 5 cylinder 602 engine (603 derrivative). I have found that since the engine bay is much smaller on the 124 body style, the 5 cylinder 2.5 has great room to work on if you are working in the engine compartment. I have seen the 6 cylinder engines in the 124 body style and it seems pretty tight on those.

My recommendation is to get the 2.5 Turbo because of easier serviceablity and plus the performance is incredible with excellent mileage. They are great cars!

Oh, the '92 year on mine does have the R-12 refrigerant.
