My 2000 C280 had a random no-start which progressed to a random shut down while driving. After sitting for a few minutes, car would start and run normally until the next episode. I tried the camshaft PS but replacing the crankshaft PS finally solved the problem. Parts dealers shows the same part for both cars.

I have an OBD reader and it never showed any codes since when I got the car home it was fine. Never had the reader with me when the car wouldn't start or had a random shut down.
