I am posting this Feb. 5, 2000. I have a 2000 E430 with the same problem. This is almost a year later. The car is in the shop less than a month old. Did you ever get the fuel gauge to work? Is it still working? My dealer also told me there is nothing wrong with the MB design. It is a problem with the California fuel.
