A joke during WWII:
A brit came to America to see how yanks worked at the war effort, food production specifically. He went to a big farm in Texas and was being shown around by the owner. The Texan told him: "We grow as much as we can, we eat as much as we can, and what we cant eat, we can!" Well, the brit found this very amusing, and on his return to England, he told the story to his friends: "They grow as much as they can, they eat as much as they can, and what they cant eat, they put in tins."
