What has happened to the USA since this time? Most of our leaders no longer aspire to use resources of the USA to work for something to advance culture, but instead Presidents have mostly fallen into an endless series of unwinnable and incredibly expensive wars and political battles where the right wing evidently prefers to see US citizens starve by the millions rather than to support Federal entitlements that serve the common good.
