well i went home and swapped cars. i put the w201 on blocks and took a peek the flex disks. they looked fine.

i looked at the driver side motor mount more closely and noticed a chunk of rubber was missing. it was also oil as if the oil inside just leaked out.

I will change the motor mounts (something i have never done before) on Wednesday. I will also have the tires balanced. hopefully that will be it for now.

are there any pitfalls or tricks to know about when changing motor mounts?
