for some reason I think the 190Es are notorious for failing smog. I failed so many times, I did notice that my plugs were caked with oil because my vetiver stems were leaking. I replaced those and my cat and then my tranny modulator broke and I began sucking in tranny fluid into the intake which eventually ruined my new cat. Replaced cat and modulator and I passed smog. Fed up with failing year after year I decided to roster my car in a city that doesn't require smog. Replace the cat and do the smog the same day with the cat fully warmed up. That's what I did. If you don't mind, could you post a picture of your entire engine compartment?
