when you say that the sun shade is closed, i'm picturing it covering the
sun roof, i.e. in forward position. is so, is the rattle coming from the shade
in the closed position?

or, is it coming from aft of the sun roof cover, ie towards the rear passenger
seating area?

i've experienced a lower frequency rattle (over bumps) when the sun roof
cover is retracted into the rearward position. my solution was to partially
lower the headliner at the rear half and to slide in several sheets of bubble
wrap.

you carefully pull down on the rear edge just above the rear doors. I
used a long thin piece of wood like a paint stirrer and push in the bubble
wrap.

it solved the rattle which had been annoying me for a year.
