Every vehicle has an approved list of fluids certified by MB as meeting their operating requirements. Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids: Overview Sheets Newer vehicles can suffer damage using lessor spec products in some systems, your trans for example.

M1 5W-40 TDT meets a Cat spec, but has no MB ratings. Mobil's site won't pop that oil up in their search engine as recommended for a 606. Another oil does pop up and that oil is on the MB's approved list.

That said, your 606.962 would probably do fine on TDT and I may have used it a time or two in my 606 when M1 Euro Blend 0W/40 factory fill oil disappeared (although it might have been the discontinued Turbo Diesel rather than TDT - been too long ago). Mobil enjoys changing their names around every year or two to make selecting oils more fun. The spec always tells the story.
