The Audi/VW VP I used required an external vacuum switch. Electric VP's are common in the hot rod industry for running vacuum power brakes with a big lopey low-vacuum cam. I used a switch from one of these kits.

I was going to add a VP indicator light too. If you rubber mount yours you might need it, but half the county can hear mine. No need for an indicator light.
