I've decided to go with a front engine, rear wheel drive setup, so engine placement will no longer be much of a concern.
The reason I didn't want to do a custom radiator, is that it would be costly to replace a custom radiator in the event of an accident, and I aim to make this car easily maintainable and fixable.
I will probably end up using multiple smaller radiators, in order to maximize cooling without doing a custom shaped radiator.
