Pull the codes with an OBD II reader to see why the check engine light is on.

A MAACO paint job, no matter how nice it looks now, will look like crap after 4 or 5 years at best. It's the cheap paint, it just doesn't last.

A 2.8 is a one year model, it replaced the 2.6. As such, there are likely unique parts that may prove difficult to source without high cost.

All the other generic problems with W124s are well documented, do some searching on this forum.
