For the plate-NY has a 2-up requirement. Can you get a plate frame to make it look okay? I'd go that route.
NY does not have stickers, so they won't be looking for that.

ill be making the crossing from NH, my destination is Quebec city above.
I suppose if I made a steel or plastic backing, and painted it the approximate color of the plate, that could work with a nice surround. Of course, its going to be mid feb, so with any luck with winter weather, the front of the car will still look like this, and the plate might be unreadable anyway.
