I've actually been pleasantly surprised at NJ finally getting out of the inspection business. They essentially check for emissions from the tail pipe and the fuel cap and nothing else anymore.


I got them though...for a while I was driving a Lumina with a hole in the gas filler pipe. If you stood near the rear of the car, you clearly smell gasoline. If you filled the tank, some would overflow out of the pipe.
I always passed emissions/gas cap with that, as they only checked the cap.

I'd say most people are driving OBDII + cars these days. I'm one of the rare ones. Wife's car is OBDII, but that's it.
