Well the conventional wisdom was the snow wasn't going to hit that bad in the northern suburbs. Diesels are the perfect car for that kind of weather. I do know semi trucks used to idle constantly and still do in cold climates. Its just more validation though about how awesomely built older Mercedes Diesels really are.
