Ignition Lock Cylinder FAIL

I just bought a 1986 W201 for my son and I to work on as his first car. The car came with only 1 key, so I ordered a new ignition cylinder with 2 keys from Pelican. The original works fine, but we did not want to pay the $$ from MB to have another made. I followed the procedure to the T but cannot get the cylinder and collar out of the lock. Sooo, I removed the lock from the vehicle in hopes I could perform surgery on it better. No go. Any suggestions on this before I get the drill out? It absolutely will not release after inserting pins in the release holes with the key turned.
