There are some
pet/kid safe melters out there. We used to distribute a couple of them but it's just so hit or miss and decided it wasn't worth tying up the capital for a SKU that we might sit on for 1-2 years before turning them over.
Some golf courses around here use pelletized limestone, which acts more like a traction agent, but will provide some melting due to it's dark color absorbing some heat. Bonus if your soil is acidic.
