tightened bolts opposite each other.
two by twos
PO didnt have washers on all the fan bolts...off to lowes

question is.....

mind you i don't have a manual
where is the bolt to tighten alt water/fan/water belts
is it the really long hexagonal one that sticks out to the left?
seems like my belts were pretty loose to begin with
how much play should those two belts have...is there a rule of thumb
i know on the vanagon if you can baaaarely twist the belt you know its tight enough
