The cam looks fine, maybe someone used a metal funnel to put oil into the engine? Anyways I wouldn't sweat that, MB cam and other engine parts are pretty rugged components, and the M111 is no exception, pretty tough.
The staining, I think you mean similar to around the oil fill cap, pretty normal look, nothing to worry about.
