The IS ranks "average" in quality, the lowest of Lexus products. I've seen a few examples with sub-par build quality. A friend of mine has one with the infamous slipping automatic. To date Toyota has done nothing to fix his car.
The 215hp seemed okay when it was introduced, but Japanese sport sedan fans can now pick up a TL-S with 260hp or 270+hp in the G35.
