Ted Nugent's 'Subhuman Mongrel' Slur, in Translation : The New Yorker - makes a good point about context. When taken in context, Nugent's entire comment is even worse than the "subhuman mongrel" part taken out of context. Here's Nugent's quote:

The New Yorker article makes the point that Nugent's comment is not merely racist (though it clearly is), Nugent's statement goes to the supposed illegitimacy of Obama's presidency. Context is always important. In this case, the context goes against Nugent.
