Perhaps the oddest moment of the convention so far was when the Senate minority leader, who is facing a tough reelection fight in his home state of Kentucky, brought a rifle onstage as Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" blared from the P.A. system. The gun was a gift for retiring Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) as a lifetime achievement award from the National Rifle Association. Yes, this happened.
pish . . you call that a rifle?

I was told that the rifle was a gift to Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) for all of his work in the Senate that led to blocking much of what Obama wanted to do during his first term. Coburn is very ill; so ill that he is leaving the Senate two years before his term is up so this may be his last CPAC.
His health condition is no secret here in Oklahoma and he has been very open about it.
I would bet the rifle will wind up in a museum somewhere, perhaps in the OK capitol building.
