This is NOT a wise thing to do. If I were the person in the beat up van, and somebody tried to cut me off in a new car, what do I have to lose, compared to Mr. Nice Car? Conversely, when I lived in Houston, my DD was a 60s model IHC pickup w/o a straight panel on it. Funny how the traffic opened up to let me change lanes....
I can't tell you how often I wish I had a beat up pos '58 Olds Rocket '88 when some ahole cuts me off.

As to the article, do you think there might be an inherent built-in bias in play? A Berkeley study? Standing on a corner looking at cars seems a pretty unscientific way to judge incomes/net worth. Is Warren Buffett still driving around Omaha in a 10 year old Cadillac?
