The OM617.952 I have is no longer available new (I realize if I really wanted I could probably get all the plans and get someone to make me one from scratch, but that would be serious money). Reman from Metric Motors is about eight grand. I'm still only paying a bit over $400 a year for insurance. I think it has more to do with the crash rates.

Incidentally, the new version of my Kawasaki retails for about the same as the reman engine for my car. I pay around $200 a year for full coverage on the bike.
