Much like oil companies claiming they need enormous tax breaks, the NRA claims all people need guns. Too bad neither of them are right.

The whole "right to bear arms" and "protect myself" stems from an entirely different time in history which is not even applicable to today's environment. I've even heard claims from crazy gun people that they need to be able to protect themselves from the government, so essentially they are operating with a mindset from around the early 1800's. If the gov wanted to destroy you, a drone would fly over and it'd be all over.  Your mountain of weapons will only make the fire shine brighter.
