What shocks me is how good modern AWD cars are. Other than the ground clearance they beat the pants off of trucks in the slippery stuff. The modern traction aids really work some magic as well.
The traction difference between my old W126 and my attorney's E350 4Matic is as large is it is between my truck and a Mog.
Trucks and SUV's really only have an advantage if the snow gets very deep, but in light snow or ice a good AWD car will run circles around them, especially if equipped with modern snow tires.
