ÜRO 617.952 Motor Mounts lasted 6 Years

Please note that I am not recommending the Üro Motor Mounts; this is just My individual experience with them.

Just before I became a Member of this Forum in 2007 I had installed ÜRO Motor and Transmission Mounts on My Car trying to cure the Hot Idle Shaking. Only to find that what helped the Most was to do a Valve Adjustment and rebuild the Injectors. A new Governor Idle/Rack Dampener Pin also helped a bit.

Sometime around Nov of 2013 I had started to get a bit of harsh shake when the Engine was shut down so I figure that is when they were actually no good. But, the actual shaking at idle only seemed slightly worse.

I had not realized how bad they were till I saw the collapsed Mount on the Drivers Side (see pic).

I had purchased a set of Lemförder/Lemfoerder/Lemforder Motor Mounts over a 2 Years ago (prices were rising so I bought them even though I did not need them at the time).

The first time I changed the Motor Mounts I tried to do one side at a time. That meant the Engine was tilted as I only jacked up one side at a time. That caused the holes for the Main Bolt not to line up well but close enough for me to attempt to screw the Bolt in.

That was a bad Idea. I cross threaded the first couple of threads on the Arm. Fortunately I had purchased a cheapie Harbor Freight Tap and Die set and I was able to restore the threads.

So what I learned from that is jack up the front of the Car evenly and don’t tighten the Main Bolts until you know that they both started in properly.

On the 2nd Motor Mount change I was 6 years Older and that made it physically more difficult (Arthritis) and more uncomfortable to do.

This time I almost cross threaded one of the 2 little Allen Head Bolts that hold the Mount onto the frame. Fortunately I was able to chase the threads on the Allen Head Bolt and that was enough help to get it in properly.

Due to being older and disorganized Tools situation it took Me about 3 Hours to change the Mounts.

I did not have a Transmission Mount to change and while I am sure I need it the Transmission Output Shaft Seal needs to be changed at the same time as the Transmission mount is well soaked with ATF.

The Lemfoerder Transmission Mounts are harder to find. I might go with another company on that as the Üro while the Rubber is soft it is not collapsed.

I think the Üro Motor Mounts lasted as long as they did because I had fixed the other items that cause excessive Engine Shaking and I used to make a point of spraying them down with Purple Power and hosing them off when Fuel or Oil got on them.

The pic on the far Right shows the 2 squished ÜRO Motor Mounts.
