BTW, Office for iPad can also talk to a corporate Sharepoint site, and in future, it may be able to talk to other cloud providers (as well as hopefully doing straight WebDAV Secure). There is other office software for iPad that's much more agnostic about what it can talk to as well. IMHO, MS locking users to only their sharing platforms is pretty inexcusable, since things like Dropbox, WebDAV, or even secure FTP are in common usage.

I won't even use Office for iPad, I'm just using Office online. Office for iPad is $10 a month, it requires the bundle plan for the Office suite which is up to 5 computers and up to 5 tablets. Not a terrible price if a family or small business had 5 computers and 5 tablets in used regularly but otherwise its quite expensive. Office online is free and seems to work pretty well compared to other word processors I have used on my iPad.

I am starting to use my dad's new laptop that was a refurb unit from Lenovo and shipped with 8.0. I can sorta see now what people are complaining about with it not being as smooth as one might want but I isolated it to being the trackpad. Whatever Lenovo put in this laptop is terrible, worse than the trackpad in his old XP laptop from 2003, but really not much different than what is in his 4 or so year old Windows 7 laptop. Hooked up a USB mouse and everything felt fine.
Now what is really annoying with any windows machine is updating it out of the box. This has been through 4 or 5 sets of updates by now (taken 6 hours too) and still hasn't been updated to 8.1. Not quite as bad as updating an XP machine all the way to SP3 (especially over dial-up, good lord) but still quite annoying.
