The shift solenoid for the 5th ratio is held closed by a 300 mhz pwm signal which causes the transmission to shift the first 4 gears.
In the last gear approach the pwm is gradually downed till 5th engages smoothly. Its control unit is a bit finicky and not the best. If its not working correctly you end up with a 1-2-3-5 shift.
