WTF is the problem? The point of education is to learn how to think independently, to challenge the accepted. If we don't teach children how to think then we create a people who accept official explanations. That's insane.

The purpose of education is not to make cute little encyclopedias, packed full of accepted facts and no faculty for developing wisdom. Or it shouldn't be.
