Thanks. We're both pretty broken up over it. Our dogs aren't treated like normal dogs...they are truly part of the family. They are our kids.
Slider and I were close. Everywhere in the house that I went, he was there with me. My morning routine involved playing with him and the middle one, Slugger, in the kitchen while I made coffee. Slider knew that was playtime, and would dance and skitter on the floor while barking at me.
This morning's coffee just wasn't the same without him there.
Since it's gotten warm, he and I used to sit on the porch in the mornings, where I'd read the paper.
This morning's paper wasn't read.
To my wife and me, losing one of these pups is like losing a child. My son summed it up last night when he said that he's lost a brother and a friend.
