Yep. Remove the lockring.
Be prepared with more than one spare copper washer seal and o-ring.
Oil the o-ring before putting it on the carrier. Once the o-ring is on, use a fine-tipped , polished tool to get underneath it and work your way around the circumference to remove any twists in the o-ring. Dentist's tools are perfect... A plastic toothpick, too.
Have a thin, hooked tool handy if the copper seal falls into the plunger recess below the carrier. Don't use magnets. Don't use magnets. Don't use magnets.
...the rest is mostly related to cleanliness. You know the drill.
**just an IP timing remark that we often overlook when getting involved: only set the timing while advancing the pump timing. Do not set the timing while rotating the pump in the retard direction.
