Assuming you're not talking about the PS pump groaning or something similar to that, noises emanating from the wheel area under slow sharp turning conditions very often is an indicator of ball joint failure, sometimes imminent failure. Virtually every 124 ball joint failure I've ever witnessed or heard of has occurred under those conditions, something about the forces being applied under those conditions is just enough to break the ball joint stud off the ball or to separate the ball from it's socket. Usually the wheel carrier separates from the LCA and the wheel kicks out usually catching on and bending the lip of the fender.

1995 probably means replacing the entire LCA because its ball joint is not replaceable as a separate part.
