From everything I've heard / read over the years, the W140 to avoid because of expense is the V12. I would definitely be prepared to spend up to several thousand dollars a year in keeping it totally up to snuff, if you intend to use it to any extent. Which of course is not uncommon and to be expected with any aging MB. Good luck and enjoy it!
