It allows fully sequential operation (spark and fuel) using one sensor.
On systems with little play or oddball loads in the distributor drive the timing is rock steady.
(Not where the oil pump is also in the mix, but with enough teeth even that is likely to cause only a tiny variance)

This could certainly be done, but as I'm using the EDIS module I will be leaving it as a dual 36-1 setup.
Sequential injection is something that isn't worth the effort on aftermarket ecu's. Unless you need it to pass emissions.
