Nothing special about accumulator installation - the system is self-bleding, so as long as there's no leaks then the install is fine
I, too, have a thump in my 500E, and I KNOW it's a shock...they occasionally malfunction internally, so I'll have to pop for a new one (and it's very similar to your setup, accumulators & all)
