That's why all the apostrophe deputies are here to help. "It's" should always be replaceable with "it is." Otherwise gets no apostrophe.
But you knew that. I'm always shocked at how often I get there, their, and they're wrong but notice it immediatelly on a proof read. Some phonetic wiring in the brain.
