As for the first paragraph, correct. The only unusual thing about it is the prop shafts serving as suspension members. The leaf spring serves as just that, a spring.

As far as the second paragraph, I'll leave it to you guys to equate suspension design with political parties. That science is much too illogical for me to comprehend.
