Yeah, I've done a bit of research, and the whole apparatus (heating, spraying, etc.) is in the seat.
There are several makers, Toto included, and they will all fit over an existing toilet if the dimensions work.
The only problem is needing to bring an electrical outlet next to / behind the toilet.
