I am a Marylander, but i have no patience for rude behavior. Rude manners are an indication of a lack of proper training as a child. OTOH some pretty cutting remarks can be hurtful even if covered eith southern honey and charm.
Sherman's tactics may have been far humane by forcing an end to the war than gentler means allowing the war to drag on.
Before you get too proud of the chivary, there were many accounts of less than good behavior by some fighting for the South. War is indeed hell regardless of the side.
