Now that is a really important statistic. Also, the pregnancy rate skyrockets in war, among both service and civilian women exposed to war directly. Sure, we all know that men are half the cause of pregnancy, but the fact of the matter is, only one of the pair is incapacitated by the event. And if the woman is pregnant in-theater, resources must be diverted to either terminate the pregnancy or care for the mom and fetus. This isn't an especially valuable war fighting technique. To be successful in war requires the fighters to be focused on their duty, not their pregnancy or the pregnancy of their buddy.

(This is not unique to military. If we stick a handful of boys and girls between 18 and 30 into an isolated situation for several months, there will be motherhood. That's the way we are wired and we don't learn to subdue our passions without a great conscious effort or tremendous external pressure. Discipline is difficult for youngsters who smell each other's bodies. I remember…. I think we all do. It's wonderful madness.)
