"shall not be infringed" pretty much sums it up. simple statement that anti freedom nuts have been try to parse to their advantage almost since they were written.

And, the weapons most owned during the initial day of the BOR were weapons similar or identical to that of the Federal forces, ie military weapons. Ergo, modern citizens are also afforded that same right. Nowhere does it say that the people must have inferior arms and the government have superior arms. That in fact is the nexus of the protective nature of the 2nd; If the government becomes oppressive enough and cannot be changed by elective process, then the citizens may protect themselves from same said oppression.

it is really cunningly simple, thus why people like the OP and others who don't trust a free society will have to abolish the whole Constitution in order to suceed with the "brave new world" they want. The outcome is not certain for either side, but those who think the populace will go along willingly are betting a fool's wager.
