My first degree is in linguistics with a minor in Japanese.

I lived and worked in Japan for five years.

I taught in public schools in Japan for a year, then worked for a Japanese food and beverage corporation for four years.

I married my wife there, and have been married and speaking Japanese for 25 years.

I speak fluently, and can even get by with a passable Osaka dialect, as my wife is from Hyogo ken.
