1991 and 1992 models had the front passenger airbag as an extra cost option on most markets. From some point in 1993 both front airbags were standard on all markets. In the U.S. both front airbags were standard from the beginning. W140 models without a front passenger airbag had a HUGE glove box compartment, you could almost fit an A-class in it. The front door side airbags were fitted from 1997 onwards, standard at all markets.
