TONS of black smoke on w115

Hey all,

So our 1970 220 has kind of been undriveable because it emits so much black smoke. I know these things smoke, but there shouldn't this much at all, there will be a small bit of white smoke and then after that it's just huge clouds of black smoke. She wasn't always this bad, but has gradually gotten to this point. My dad and I think it could be the injectors since we're pretty sure they're the originals but it could be anything I guess.. Where should we start looking? When you accelerate is when you get the black clouds but at idle or cruising on the highway she's decent-to little to none. It was so bad going up a hill that a cop had pulled over my dad about it.. We've kind of just pushed our 220 aside because of this, but I'm thinking of possibly using her as a daily driver and maybe taking her up north with me if I get accepted into the school I'll be applying for, but I need to get this smoke issue fixed. Any input is greatly appreciated!
