I would not soak the material of the liner, I would assume it would damage it. A carpet cleaner would do an adequate job. I invested in a small one from Wal-Mart about a few years ago for cleaning a nasty interior in an MB. Well worth it and not expensive. Even came with a heater for the water. I just run Simple Green through it.
